Many famous Princetonians have been able to call the Morven Historic Museum & Garden home; William Penn, Richard Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Robert Wood Johnson and five New Jersey governors to name a few. With the relocation of the Governor’s Mansion to Drumthwacket in 1982, Morven was converted into the museum it is today.

Morven boasts five acres of gardens, a collection of fine and decorative arts and a second floor that serves as a changing exhibit space with new shows opening every few months. Just a short walk from the university, Morven is able to loan from the Boudinot Collection at the Princeton University Art Museum. The garden layout includes a formal lawn dotted with majestic trees, beds of heirloom annuals from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as a re-creation of the Colonial Revival style garden that was planted at Morven in the early 20th century.

Today, Morven is home to many engaging events throughout the year; Plein Air Painting in the gardens, hands on workshops and holiday events such as the Festival of Trees displayed throughout the museum’s galleries.
